A publication for and about state employees

SafePlace (CFD #0316227)

Washington State Employees have a long history of supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence through the CFD. Every donation to SafePlace provides services for survivors as they continue on their paths to healing and peace.

With help from our Washington State employees, SafePlace reaches out to survivors throughout Thurston County and the greater state of Washington. The story of one client, “Rebecca,” was recently shared with us:

Rebecca was in the process of relocating her and her two children to a new living situation after finding the courage to leave a years-long abusive relationship. She came to SafePlace with the intention working with an advocate to find a gift card to simply buy food for her kids, along with some other basic donated housing supplies. Before Rebecca left the office, one of our advocates let her know that if she needed them, a donor had gifted new mattresses to SafePlace and they could be delivered once she was settled in her new home. Immediately filled with tears, Rebecca stopped and told our advocate “this was the first time in nearly years [my] children could have beds to sleep on”, and for one child, “this will be the first bed they’ve ever had in their life.”

Donations made through the CFD helps survivors like “Rebecca” access life-saving basic needs items, for themselves and often for their children. Your support allows SafePlace to ofer survivors a range of tools and services to best support their path to freedom from violence. From confidential emergency shelter to 24-hour sexual assault response, support groups to HelpLine advocacy, prevention workshops with youth and community outreach, SafePlace strives to weave a web of support for survivors and the greater community.

Your gift supports healing right here in our community.  Please remember CFD #0316227 when participating in the CFD.  Together, we can create a community free of domestic and sexual violence. Thank you for all your support, and for all you do!
