Pawsitive Alliance (CFD #1478319)

Pawsitive Alliance (CFD 1478319#) works to end the euthanasia of cats and dogs in Washington by increasing adoptions, supporting spay and neuter programs, and improving pet retention.  Our vision is a happy and healthy home for every cat and dog in Washington. Visit our website at

In 2012, we launched the Statewide Shelter Open House event.  Each year, we encourage people to visit their local shelters and find their new four-legged friend.  The 2019 Annual Statewide Shelter Open House resulted in 416 adoptions across the state. The 2020 Annual Shelter Open House will be held throughout the month of December to accommodate the new adoption by appointment model and include eligible rescue groups this year.

In addition to large scale adoption events hosted several times a year and throughout the state, we have a unique program that helps harder to place animals find their forever homes. In 2020, our #WhynotMEpets program saw its 300th animal with a barrier to adoption such as age, breed, behavior or disability enter the program. For animals like Kenzie, a bully breed, the #WhynotMEpets program provides the exposure to help find loving homes. Kenzie was adopted after her new family saw her featured by our media partner, Seattle’s KIRO TV.  Pawsitive Alliance adoption events and programs have help find forever homes for over 8100 animals.

Pawsitive Alliance knows that, while love of our pets transcends socioeconomic boundaries, access to affordable services does not. We are currently working in both Grant and Adams Counties, in rural Washington, to help provide spay/neuter services for low income residents. Since 2009, Pawsitive Alliance has assisted with spay/neuter of over 3000 animals.

In addition, Pawsitive Alliance is providing pet care items and veterinary services to our most vulnerable populations.  The new Pawsitive Lifeline Fund’s objective is to assist with veterinary services for those suffering extreme economic hardship.  Through partnerships with local businesses, we collect new and gently used pet care items to be used for caretakers in the homeless community.

In these trying times, we have had to cancel events, but the need still exists. We anticipate as more people are faced with hard times, the demand for services will be even more. Together, we can ensure a healthy and happy home for every cat and dog in Washington. Give to Pawsitive Alliance to make a difference for pets and people across Washington (CFD##1478319).
