OSD Education Foundation: Removes Barriers for OSD Students

osdef-2016The mission of the Olympia School District Education Foundation (OSDEF) is to provide programs and services to students; partner with teachers to enhance educational success; and promote learning for all students of the Olympia School District.

The OSDEF focuses on and fundraises for three areas of purpose annually:

Teacher Grants and Initiatives – in 2015-16, the OSDEF provided $52,000 in grants and underwriting funding teacher requests for enhancing curriculum, an after school math tutoring program for middle schoolers and created an arts initiative that provides OSD kids with live music and cultural experiences

Camp CISPUS – for many years, the OSDEF has contributed $25,000 annually to the Olympia School District’s Outdoor Education Program allowing all OSD 5th graders to attend a three-day overnight outdoor education program at Camp Cispus in Randle, WA.

The Principal’s Emergency Checkbook Fund (PECF) – The PECF exists to allow OSD Principals to address emergent student needs quickly and simply, without a lot of paperwork. In 2015-16, the PECF funded $34,000 worth of emergency student needs – everything from SAT fees to rent to clothing and glasses – removing barriers so our students come to school ready to learn.

The OSDEF Board of Trustees is made of up an amazing group of people dedicated to every school, every staff member and, most importantly, every student in the district. Our goals can only be realized through generous community support from people like you. Please consider making your donation to OSDEF. Thank you!
