NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness NAMI Thurston-Mason is a nonprofit organization facilitating support, education, awareness and advocacy throughout Thurston and Mason counties alongside people and their families affected by mental illness, including substance abuse. Mental health recovery, resilience and support are essential to improving people’s well-being and their quality of life.

Our local affiliate, NAMI Thurston/Mason; is an all volunteer organization and classes/programs are provided at no cost to participants.

We offer a variety of programs for Families….

Family Support Group is available to all friends, family and advocates on a drop-in basis.

Family-to-Family is a 12-session education course designed for family members who are caring for a loved one with mental illness.

NAMI HomeFront is modeled after Family-to-Family but is aimed at assisting the loved ones of our service members. This program is now available online for easy access.

NAMI Basics is an educational program specifically for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges.

We offer a variety of programs for individuals living with a mental illness (Peers):

Connection Recovery Support Group is a peer-facilitated, recovery-based support group for those living with mental illness, available on a drop-in basis.

Peer-to-Peer is a 8-week program for people living with mental illness that focuses on recovery and stability.

“In Our Own Voice” presentation gives many people including community members, students, police and community members the opportunity to hear personal stories of people living with mental illness and their journeys of recovery.

Our newest program targest youth:

Ending the Silence is a 50-minute presentation given by a youth peer and a family member in the classroom setting;

We bring our resource materials to many events in the communities we serve on a regular basis to help reduce stigma.  We sponsor public forums, meet with our state legislators yearly,
