NAMI Thurston/Mason is an all volunteer organization providing education and support for those with mental illness

Microsoft Word - Our 2016 CFD Supplement Article.docNAMI is a nationwide grassroots organization that provides education, support, and advocacy for those with mental illness, their loves ones, and the community at large. NAMI Thurston/Mason is an all-volunteer organization. All our services are free to the community.

nami-2016We offer a variety of programs:  Family-to-Family is a 12-week education course designed for family members (and other loved ones) of those with mental illness. New to our affiliate in 2015 is a modified Family-to-Family class called HomeFront, designed to meet the needs of Military families (6-weeks).   Family members can also attend the bi-monthly Family Support Group at multiple times/locations.  Peer-to-Peer is a 10-week program for people with mental illness that focuses on recovery and stability.  General Support Group, meeting weekly, is for both those with mental illness and their loved ones. Connection Support Group, meeting bi-monthly, is a peer-facilitated, recovery-based group for those with mental illness. In Our Own Voice trains speakers to make community presentations, sharing their personal stories of living with mental illness and progressing toward recovery.  Bridges of Hope is a two-hour training to educate clergy and congregations about mental illness.

In addition, we have a lending library, offer periodic public forums on mental health- related topics, and meet with our state legislators yearly to lobby for services and laws that improve the lives of those living with mental illness.

One in four people will have direct experience with mental illness in their lifetime; almost everyone knows someone with mental health challenges. It is because of the impact of these illnesses on the person and their loved ones that we exist. Every dollar donated to NAMI Thurston/Mason goes to support the classes, support groups, and other important services we provide free of charge to the community.  Your donations are very much appreciated!
