Has your life ever been changed by someone you have never met? Mine Has.

Everyone has their own unique life story to tell, but the Club is where I like to begin mine. My name is Mara Harris and I’m a freshman at South Puget Sound Community college, and a former member at the Rochester Boys & Girls Club.

Ever since my first day at Club–8 years ago—I’ve felt like I belong. Not only that, but I’ve flourished. My Club has given me the chance to excel as a diverse individual. My experiences range from noteworthy opportunities—like meeting the Governor, and being named Young Philanthropist of the Year—to just being a kid and having fun. But I never would have guessed the tremendous significance the Club would actually one day hold.

From the beginning the Club staff included me in various activities and even let me take the lead on community service projects. In the first year alone I volunteered over 200 hours in my community! These early experiences helped me become the socially-minded adult that I am today. But that’sBGCTC - FTE CFD Ad 2015 not the only way the Club has helped me grow.

For years I struggled with some personal issues; my biological father was absent, I was bullied at school, I transferred schools, and my grades suffered. Lucky for me the Club provided the reinforcement and support I needed to succeed – all for only $25 per year! The dedicated staff is there for all kids, allowing them to follow their dreams. We are kept accountable by mentors who help ensure the decisions we make are in our best interest.

Your support to the Club has helped me achieve greatness and build a reliable foundation for my future. This is why I believe that the Club can make an immense difference in the lives of all kids and teens. While my story is one of success and inspiration, there are many kids out there who still seek guidance. They are lucky to have someone like you who cares about kids enough to donate.

I want to personally thank you for listening to my story, believing in me, and changing my life! Because of you I will change the world!

Sincerely,

Mara Harris
